Atari Bench
This is the later model as I understand it. My sister and I would play the heck out of this thing. We had sleepover's and game for hours until we couldn't stay awake. We had a blast with this simple design console. Recently I was visiting my sister and she briught it out. She wasn't able to get it operating and asked if I could repair it. I took it home and about a month later, was able to clear my bench of the Amiga 500 repair for my wife.
So far I found a broken wire on the paddle knob control, dirty switches, a burnt out voltage regulator, a dead speaker, and a bad power jack.
After dissasembly there was plenty of cleaning to do. Washing the lower case half was easy enough and cleaned up well. The top was more challenging as the glue holding the graphic overlay in place was flaking allowing the left half to lift. Washing off the old glue easn't hard, it just wouldn't come off. Moving to the grill slats I cleaned them with a toothbrush. All washing was done with diluted Dawn dish soap. Other than the discoloring due to age, it cleaned up well.
A parts order was placed with Mouser and hope to have them by Thursday (June 29, 2023). Once I replace the parts I can perform another power test before reinserting the main chip. It all passes the chip will be inserted and a power up performed. We'll see if I get video and audio.
